Jimmy Farrar

Jimmy Farrar (born November 1, 1950) was an American rock musician best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the band Molly Hatchet from 1979 to 1982. He contributed to the Southern rock genre, a style characterized by its blend of rock, blues, and country influences. Farrar's notable works with Molly Hatchet include the albums "Flirtin' with Disaster" (1979) and "Beatin' the Odds" (1980), which showcased his powerful vocal style and songwriting abilities. Farrar's tenure with the band was marked by notable tracks such as "Highway Song" and "Gator Country," which became staples in the Southern rock repertoire. His contributions helped solidify Molly Hatchet's place in the music scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s, further popularizing the Southern rock movement. After leaving Molly Hatchet, Farrar pursued a solo career and collaborated with various artists, including the band "The Outlaws." Although he never achieved the same level of fame as during his time with Molly Hatchet, Farrar's work remains influential within the Southern rock genre, and he is remembered for his distinctive voice and energetic performances. He passed away on July 22, 2021.
